In loving memory of Elvis who passed away on August 29, 2008. This special lion is sorely missed and will forever be in the hearts of all who loved him.

Elvis, a 750 lb. African male lion, was being used on stage by an entertainer in Florida. Elvis's owner wanted to possess a sweet, mellow pet that would do what he was told on command.

Four trainers later ... Elvis still did not fit the owner's bill so he decided to try neutering Elvis which caused a severe hormone imbalance. This resulted in making it impossible for Elvis to grow a mane, and he suffered massive bone growth which now accounts for his above-normal size.

Still "not right" in the owner's eyes they proceeded to beat Elvis in and around the head with baseball bats leaving him 80% blind . Elvis suffered further abuse and bitter memories when the last trainer let four rottweilers loose on him.

Jonathan personally went to rescue the poor creature exactly one day before he was to be euthanized. Currently, Elvis shares his enclosure with a beautiful and loving female lioness named Sheena. They love to sit side-by-side, raise their heads in unison and roar from the depths of their being. Usually one can hear Sultan joining in the conversation.
