A gift of stock that you have owned for a number of years can be very tax-wise. Let's say you own stock which you have held for more than one year and has increased in value. If you sell your stock, you will pay a capital gains tax on its increase in value. You can avoid tax on this gain by making a gift of the stock to Keepers of the Wild. In addition, you charitable contribution deduction is equal to the full amount generally deductible, up to 30% of your adjusted gross income.
